Our Breeding Practice

The parents of our puppies are carefully selected for excellent temperament (intelligence, stability, ease of training, and solid work ethic), health (free of testable inherited and other disorders, longevity), structure (ability to do their ancestral job with ease and ground covering stride), and breed essence and type.

Our puppies are whelped in our bedroom and spend their first two to three weeks there. During this time, they are given early neurological stimulation developed by the U.S. military and early scent discrimination. When the whelping box can no longer contain them, they are moved to the tiled dining area and enclosed in a doubled exercise pen with an open crate, toys, blankets, piddle pads, etc. From there they can easily be put outdoors on a covered concrete deck or grassy yard during the day. They are exposed to household activities, other Belgians, and cats. Eventually, they explore the wider world and go for car rides. Throughout their development, they have an enriched environment following Puppy Culture methods. Someone is always nearby during their first 8 to 10 weeks.

If someone is available, we do temperament testing on day 49. However, this date is not the same level of maturity for all puppies and results can be inaccurate. We feel, that as experienced breeders, through observations and interactions over a period of at least 8 weeks, our assessments are as accurate as an evaluator’s might be. 

Our puppies are carefully matched to potential homes and sold on a contract that protects puppy and buyer alike.
